FIFTH PLACE FOR SAMANTHA AT TYSON AMERICAN CUP
MARCH 10, 2007

Congratulations to Samantha who finished fifth all-around at the 2007 Tyson American Cup, competing against athletes from 12 countries! This was Samantha’s first senior international competition and she had the top score on vault (15.250) and the second highest score on floor (15.500) in the preliminary competition. She also unveiled a couple of new dismounts, including a double Arabian on beam and a double layout on bars.

During the Tyson American Cup prelims, Samantha was second all-around going into the final rotation, beam. Unfortunately she had a few wobbles and an overtime deduction which dropped her from second to fifth in the all-around standings. The USA athletes swept first through fifth in the all-around.

US NATIONALS RESULTS DAY TWO
AUGUST 16, 2005

Saturday was the final day of competition at the VISA Championships.  Sam started off on floor with a strong performance (pike full-in; 2-1/2, punch full; stuck Arabian double; jump double; triple twist dismount, one step) and scoring a solid 9.400.  Here next event was vault where she scored a 9.366.  She clearly has one of the best double twisting yurchenkos in the junior field.  Her next two events aren't her strongest and with a unsteady pirouette on bars (8.450) and a slip on balance beam (8.483) placed her in seventh place all-around.

Even though she had a few slips on the second day, she still earned a spot on the Junior National Team for the second year in a row!  She also had the highest average score on vault and won the gold medal and placed second on floor, winning the silver.   Congratulations on another great year!  Sam has accomplished so much in the past year and all of her family, friends, and fans are proud!

Over 50 photographs have been added to the photo gallery from the recent 2005 National Championships along with new videos.  New articles and quotes have also been added.

US CLASSIC RESULTS
JULY 24, 2005

Sam traveled to Virginia Beach, VA this weekend to compete in the US Classic.  The US Classic is the final qualifier for the 2005 US Championships in August.  Even though Sam is already pre-qualified to the US Championships, she took this opportunity to compete in order to feel more prepared.

She did very well placing second on vault, third on floor exercise, and ninth on beam.  She competed a huge double twisting yurchenko on vault, her new floor routine with new upgraded tumbling passes (piked full-in; 2.5 twist to punch front full; arabian double front; triple twist), and her new skills added on beam (front tuck; 1-arm bhs to layout step out; split leap to 1.5-twisting tuck jump; back tuck full; front aerial; back pike; double pike dismount).  Even with a little slip on bars (coach accidentally clipped her as he stood in for her Gienger), she placed eighth in the all-around out of thirty five girls!  Sam will get back in the gym for a couple more weeks and continue perfecting her skills before Nationals!

Congratulations to Sam's teammate Elizabeth McNabb for qualifying to championships!!  And a job well done to Sam for a great weekend!!
