Hoosier gymnast Samantha Peszek won the all-around Friday in an international junior competition at Cancun, Mexico. Peszek, 13, McCordsville, Ind., had a score of 36.655 points. The three Americans directly behind her had all finished ahead of Peszek in last month's junior nationals at Indianapolis.

Monica Shoji, Cincinnati, was second with 36.450 points. Next were Shantessa Pama, Dana Point, Calif., 35.875, and Morgan Evans, Norfolk, Va., 35.400. Peszek, who trains at DeVeau's School of Gymnastics, Fishers, was first in vault (9.655) and floor exercise (9.650). Individual event finals are today. The United States easily won the team competition with 109.605 points. Mexico was second with 101.675 and Canada third with 100.855. on the junior national team..
