Third Indiana Girl Qualifies

A third Indiana girl, Elizabeth McNabb, Fortville, has qualified for nationals in the junior division.

McNabb, 14, was 14th in the all-around at the Classic. She and Samantha Peszek, 13, McCordsville, represent DeVeau's School of Gymnastics, Fishers. Also qualified is Bridget Sloan, 13, Pittsboro, of Sharp's Academy, Indianapolis.

Peszek was eighth in the all-around and Sloan 27th at the Classic.

Peszek was second on vault (9.30) and third in floor exercise (9.15). She would have placed second in the all-around, except for a penalty in uneven bars. The coach who was spotting inadvertently touched her, causing a deduction of 0.80.

"I always choose safety over the scores," coach Peter Zhao said.
